Although the dog park initiative was spearheaded
by the Friends of Tudek Dog Park, the park is officially part of Centre
Region Parks & Recreation (CRPR). CRPR is responsible for operations
and maintenance of the park.
Because of the overwhelming (and unexpected) popularity of the park, a
number of maintenance issues are arising. Please be patient as Friends
of Tudek Dog Park and CRPR work to solve these issues. We're all learning
how to use and manage this park as we go, and CRPR is also in charge of
maintaining 50 other municipal parks!
Trash Receptacles
Four full-size trash receptacles with dome lids have been installed by CRPR. More poop bag stations are also on order.
Ground Cover
The park is being loved to death! The abundance of dogs has obviously
killed the grass. The problem will be addressed; however, it may not be
an easy fix. We will be consulting a PSU Turf Specialist and investigating
other cover options.
Woodchips have been laid around the gates as a temporary fix for the entry
areas and CRPR is investigating stone options for the entry areas.
Gate Hinges
The broken gate hinge was repaired earlier but may continue to be a problem.
CRPR will be repairing and/or replacing the hinges. You can help by gently
closing the gate by hand, rather than letting it swing shut.
